• They first shared screen space in 'Ek Se Bure Do' (2009) because the director, Chandan Arora, deliberately cast two actors known for comic timing but gave them zero comedy — he wanted to see if they could make a grim, violent story watchable. Rajpal later said he signed just to work opposite Vijay, whom he called 'the actor who doesn't need a script.'
• In 'Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat' (2015), Vijay played the straight man who sets up every punchline, while Rajpal played the chaotic trigger. Vijay once explained in an interview that their rhythm worked because he deliberately underacted to give Rajpal space to go over-the-top — 'I become the silence so his noise lands.'
• Their 2019 film 'Mr Black Mr White' was a surprise hit in small-town Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, directly inspiring a wave of 'double-act buddy comedies' in Bhojpuri cinema — at least three Bhojpuri films in 2020-21 copied the 'one serious, one silly' template they used.
• On the sets of 'Khalli Balli' (2022), the two had a running bet: whoever broke character first during a scene had to buy the entire crew chai. Rajpal lost every single day because Vijay would whisper random lines from old 'Munnabhai' scenes mid-take. The crew still talks about the chai budget.
• Rajpal Yadav, on why they never did a third film for six years after 'Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat': 'Vijay bhai told me, 'Jab tak koi script hum dono ko ek saath nahi hilade, tab tak wait karo.' We waited until 'Mr Black Mr White' gave us that shiver.'
