Shaan is a 1980 Indian Hindi-language action crime film directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by G. P. Sippy under Sippy Films. The film stars Sunil Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Raakhee Gulzar, Parveen Babi, and Bindiya Goswami. The story follows DCP Shiv Kumar, an honest police officer, who is murdered by the crime lord Shakaal. His two conman brothers, Vijay and Ravi, join forces with a marksman named Rakesh to seek revenge. The villain Shakaal, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda, was inspired by the James Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The film was the most expensive Indian film made at the time and was an average performer at the box office upon initial release. It is known for its high-tech villain lair, a man-eating crocodile, and a dramatic island climax. The music was composed by R. D. Burman and the film won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography.

Storyline

DCP Shiv Kumar is an honest police officer. He is murdered by the crime lord Shakaal. His two brothers, Vijay and Ravi, are con artists. They reform and join a marksman named Rakesh. Together, they plan to take down Shakaal. But Shakaal lives on a high-tech island. He has wild dogs, a crocodile, and deadly traps. The heroes must fight through all of it to get their revenge.
