Trivia
- This film was a remake of the 1989 Telugu blockbuster 'Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu', which also starred Rajinikanth in the lead role.
- The character name 'Quarter Govindan' became a popular nickname for comedian Goundamani, referencing his role and comedic persona.
- The movie's plot of a rich man hiring a lookalike was a popular trope in Indian cinema, but this version heavily emphasized the contrast between America and rural Tamil Nadu.
- Actress Khushbu, who played the female lead, was at the peak of her popularity, making this one of several successful pairings with Rajinikanth in the early 90s.
- Director S.P. Muthuraman and Rajinikanth collaborated on over 20 films, making this one of their later comedies before Rajinikanth shifted to more action-oriented roles.
- The comedy track featuring Goundamani and Senthil, especially scenes at the 'quarter' shop, was a major highlight and was praised more than the main storyline by some audiences.
- Despite being a comedy, the film included a signature Rajinikanth style 'intro song' ('Naan Autokaaran') that showcased his charismatic screen presence.
