
Annamayya(1997)
Annamayya is a 1997 Indian Telugu-language hagiographical film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by V. Doraswamy Raju under VMC Productions. The film stars Nagarjuna Akkineni in the title role, with Suman, Mohan Babu, Ramya Krishna, Bhanupriya, and Roja in supporting roles. It chronicles the life of 15th-century composer Annamacharya, who dedicated his life to writing devotional songs for Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. The narrative follows his journey from a village in Kadapa to the holy hills, his conflicts with a king and jealous priests, and his ultimate salvation. The film features music composed by M. M. Keeravani, which became the highest-selling Telugu music album. It received eight Nandi Awards, three Filmfare Awards South, and two National Film Awards, including Best Music Direction. The film was screened in the Indian panorama mainstream section at the 29th International Film Festival of India.

Storyline
A divine sword from heaven is born as a human boy named Annamayya. He falls in love with Lord Venkateswara and leaves home to sing for him at Tirumala. A king demands praise, priests burn his songs, and his wives sacrifice their lives. Through faith and miracles, his work is preserved for eternity.
