• Their first film together, Muta Mesthri (1993), was a low-budget village drama where Brahmanandam played a sidekick to Roja's hero. The director, Kodi Ramakrishna, paired them because he needed a comedian who could match Roja's raw energy — and Brahmanandam's timing clicked so well that they did 11 more films over two decades.
• In Annamayya (1997), Roja played the saint-poet's wife while Brahmanandam played a comic devotee. Their scenes together worked because Brahmanandam deliberately slowed his delivery to match Roja's more measured, devotional tone — he later said he 'had to unlearn his usual speed' to let her lead the emotional beats.
• Their 2000 film Kshemanga Velli Labanga Randi — a comedy about two sisters and a conman — was one of the earliest Telugu films to feature a female-led police duo (Roja and her real-life sister). Brahmanandam's role as a bumbling informant directly inspired the 'sidekick comedian' template in later women-centric cop films like Police Sisters (2002), which they also did together.
• On the sets of Bobbili Simham (1994), Roja and Brahmanandam developed a ritual: before every scene together, they'd share a cup of chai and rehearse the dialogue in reverse order — starting from the punchline and working backwards. Brahmanandam said it helped them 'find the laugh before the setup.'
• Brahmanandam once told a Telugu magazine: 'Roja is the only heroine who never complained when I stole the scene. She'd just laugh and say, 'Next time, I'll steal it back.' And she did — in Peddannayya, she ad-libbed a line that made the entire crew crack up, including me.'
