• Sriman and Pandu first shared screen space in Manadhai Thirudivittai (2001) because the director needed a pair of friends who could bicker like real buddies. Pandu was already a known comedian; Sriman was still finding his footing. The director threw them together for a single scene — and they ended up rewriting the whole dialogue on set.
• In Pokkiri (2007), Pandu played the sidekick who gets beaten up for laughs. Sriman, playing the hero, would deliberately slow down his punch delivery so Pandu could react bigger. That split-second timing — Sriman holding back, Pandu overreacting — is what made their comedy beats land so hard.
• Their pairing in Villu (2009) was so forgettable that it actually killed the trend of hero-comedian duos in Vijay films for a while. After that disaster, Vijay stopped casting a regular comic sidekick for nearly five years — until Kaththi (2014) brought back the formula with a different actor.
• On the sets of Engal Aasan (2009), Sriman and Pandu shared a room during the entire shoot in Kumbakonam. Every night, they would rehearse the next day's scenes by acting them out in full costume — even the scenes where they weren't together. The crew called them 'the twins' by the end of the schedule.
• Pandu once said in a 2015 interview: 'Sriman is the only actor who can make me laugh even when the director is yelling at us. He'll whisper a joke in my ear right before a serious scene, and I have to bite my tongue to keep from breaking.'
• In Kanchana 2 (2015), Sriman played the scared husband and Pandu played the terrified friend. They had a running gag where both would try to hide behind each other. Raghava Lawrence told them to improvise who pushes whom first — and the final take was the one where they both shoved each other at the exact same moment, falling down together.
