• Pandu and Ranjitha first paired up in 'Pondatti Rajyam' (1992) because the director needed a fresh couple who looked like they actually bickered like a real married pair — not the usual lovey-dovey leads. Ranjitha was already a known face, but Pandu was still finding his footing, and the gamble paid off enough to make them a go-to jodi.
• In 'Walter Vetrivel' (1993), Pandu played the loud, impulsive husband while Ranjitha played the long-suffering wife who keeps him in check. The trick was that Ranjitha would deliberately slow down her dialogue delivery to force Pandu to match her rhythm — he had to listen, not just react. That push-pull became their signature.
• Their 1996 film 'Purushan Pondatti' — the only one that scored well with audiences — directly inspired a wave of 'comedy couple' films in Tamil cinema over the next two years. • In 'Seethanam' (1995), Pandu's character was written as a straight-laced guy, but on set he kept adding silly physical bits — tripping over a chair, pretending to sneeze at the wrong moment. Ranjitha, instead of ignoring it, started reacting in character, scolding him like a real wife would. The director kept those takes because they felt more alive.
