• Thengai Srinivasan was a popular stage comedian when Sreekanth, then a rising hero, personally requested the director of Engal Thai (1973) to cast him. Sreekanth had seen Srinivasan's stage act and insisted they work together — that film became their first of five.
• In Komatha En Kulamatha (1973), Sreekanth deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Thengai Srinivasan's rhythmic comic timing. Srinivasan later said Sreekanth was the only co-star who 'listened to my pauses' instead of rushing through scenes.
• During the shoot of Kasiyatthirai (1973), Sreekanth and Thengai Srinivasan shared a room in a small lodge in Tenkasi. They would rehearse their scenes at night by candlelight because the power would go off — and they'd often break into laughter, waking up the entire crew.
• Their double-act in Aayirathil Oruthi (1975) was so popular that the film's producer immediately greenlit a spin-off comedy track for them in his next project. That spin-off track became a template for the 'hero-comic duo' formula that Tamil cinema copied for the next decade.
• Thengai Srinivasan once told a magazine: 'Sreekanth never treated me like a sidekick. He would say, "Thengai, you take the punchline — I'll set it up." That's why our scenes worked. He gave me the laugh.'
• In Sadhurangam (1978), their last film together, Sreekanth insisted on a single-take comedy sequence where both had to react to a hidden character. They rehearsed it 14 times before the director called 'action' — and nailed it in one take. The crew applauded.
