• Devika was already a star when Gemini Ganesan was still finding his footing. For 'Bandha Pasam' (1962), she specifically asked the producer to cast him opposite her — she believed his soft-spoken intensity would balance her fiery screen presence. That film became their first hit together.
• On the sets of 'Veguli Pen' (1971), Devika would deliberately flub her lines in the first take just to make Gemini Ganesan laugh. He was famously stoic, and she made it her mission to break his composure. The director eventually kept those takes because the spontaneous smile made their scenes feel real.
• After 'Agathiyar' (1972) wrapped, Devika and Gemini Ganesan never spoke again. No fight, no public reason — just a quiet drift. Years later, a mutual friend said Devika felt he had become too distant, and Gemini, true to form, never reached out to explain.
