• Devika was just 13 when she first acted opposite Nagesh in 'Shanthi' (1965). He was already a comedy star. The director had to get special permission from her parents for the pairing.
• In 'Agathiyar' (1972), Nagesh played the sage Agathiyar — a serious, mythological role. Devika played his wife Lopamudra. Their scenes together had zero comedy. Nagesh later said she made him forget he was a comedian on set.
• Nagesh personally recommended Devika for 'Veguli Pen' (1971) when the producer was unsure. He told them she could handle a heavy emotional role despite being young. That film became a turning point in her career.
• Their last film together, 'Paruva Kaalam' (1974), was a bold drama about a married woman's affair. It directly inspired later Tamil films like 'Mouna Ragam' (1986) to explore complex female desires on screen.
• Nagesh once told an interviewer: 'Devika was the only actress who could make me feel like a real hero, not just a funny man.' He said this during a 1975 stage event.
