• Adhiyaman discovered Adiyaman as an assistant director on his own sets. He promoted him to co-director on Thotta Chinungi (1995) after seeing him handle a crowd scene better than anyone else.
• On Priyasakhi (2005), Adhiyaman wrote the dialogues in his car every morning. Adiyaman then rewrote them in Tamil slang on set. The final script was a mix of both — one polished, one raw.
• Their 1998 film Swarnamukhi was the first Tamil movie to use a live elephant in a song sequence without a trainer on set. The mahout quit mid-shoot; Adiyaman stepped in and handled the elephant himself for three days.
• After Thoondil (2008) flopped, the two stopped speaking for seven years. They reconciled only in 2015 at a mutual friend's wedding — and immediately started planning a new film that never got made.
• Adhiyaman once said in a 2006 interview: 'Adiyaman is the only person who can yell at me during a shoot and still get a coffee from me five minutes later.'
