• Laya and M. S. Narayana first shared screen space in 'Kodanda Ramudu' (2000) because the director wanted a fresh comedic pair to balance the film's serious tone. Narayana, then a rising comedian, specifically requested Laya as his on-screen partner after seeing her debut.
• In 'Missamma' (2003), Narayana's rapid-fire dialogue delivery forced Laya to sharpen her timing. She later admitted in an interview that she had to rehearse her reactions twice as much because he never stuck to the script — he'd throw in new jokes mid-scene, and she had to keep up.
