• Nagesh and Sujatha first shared screen space in 'Kanavan Manaivi' (1976) only because the original heroine dropped out last minute. Sujatha stepped in as a replacement, and the director decided to pair her with Nagesh on a whim — no chemistry test, no rehearsal.
• In 'Nandha En Nila' (1977), Nagesh deliberately slowed down his comic timing during emotional scenes so Sujatha could catch up. She later admitted in an interview that he would whisper cues to her between takes — something he never did with other co-stars.
• During the shoot of 'Anbukku Naan Adimai' (1980), Nagesh would bring Sujatha homemade biryani every Friday. She later said it was the only reason she didn't quit the film mid-shoot — she was exhausted and he kept her going with food and jokes.

• In 'Vaa Kanna Vaa' (1982), Nagesh insisted on rewriting their romantic scenes because he felt the original script made Sujatha look too passive. He added lines where she teased him back — a dynamic that became their trademark in later films.
