• Nassar and Murali first shared screen space in Adharmam (1994) because director R. K. Selvamani needed two actors who could play brothers with contrasting moral codes — and he specifically wanted actors who were close friends off-screen to sell the tension.
• In Poonthottam (1998), Murali played the hot-headed younger brother while Nassar played the calm elder — and they deliberately swapped their real-life personalities on screen. Off-screen, Nassar was the impulsive one; Murali was the quiet listener.
• During the shoot of Kaalamellam Kadhal Vaazhga (1997), Nassar and Murali shared a room in a small lodge in Kodaikanal for 45 days. They cooked their own meals because the hotel food gave both of them stomach issues.
• Desiya Geetham (1998) was the only film where Nassar directed Murali. That film launched composer Deva's career as a full-fledged music director — Deva had only done background scores before this.
• Murali once said in a 2001 interview: 'Nassar is the only co-star who would wake me up at 5 AM to rehearse a scene, and I would do the same for him. We never needed a director to tell us what to do.'
• In Kaadhale Nimmadhi (1998), Nassar and Murali played rivals for the same woman. The director later revealed that both actors improvised the final confrontation scene — Murali threw a glass at Nassar without warning, and Nassar ducked and kept delivering his lines. That take made it to the final cut.
