Partnership facts

• Nassar was already a respected character actor when he signed 'En Purushan Than Enakku Mattundhan' (1989), but V. K. Ramasamy was the one who pushed the director to cast him. Ramasamy had seen Nassar's stage work and told the team: 'He'll make the comedy land harder.' That film became their first together.
• In 'Varusham Padhinaaru' (1989), Nassar played the straight man to V. K. Ramasamy's loud, blustering father figure. Ramasamy would deliberately over-deliver his lines in the first take, forcing Nassar to react with genuine irritation — which the director kept because it looked real. That push-and-pull became their signature rhythm.
• On the sets of 'Gopura Vasalile' (1991), V. K. Ramasamy would sit with Nassar during lunch breaks and teach him old Madras slang and folk idioms. Nassar later said those sessions helped him build the earthy dialogue delivery he became famous for in later films.
• Nassar once told a magazine: 'V. K. Ramasamy sir never let me act lazy. He'd say, "If you're not sweating, you're not acting." I learned more from him in those four films than from any acting class.'
• Their pairing in 'Chinna Kannamma' (1993) was the last time they worked together. But the director of that film, R. Sundarrajan, later said the easy banter between Nassar and Ramasamy inspired him to write a whole new comedy track for his next movie — which became a minor trend in early-90s Tamil family dramas.
