• Moondru Mugam (1982) was the first Tamil film where Rajinikanth played a triple role — and Sathyaraj played the villain opposite all three versions of him. The film ran for over 175 days in theatres.
• In Paayum Puli (1983), Sathyaraj's character delivers the line 'Naan oru dhadava sonna, nooru dhadava sonna madhiri' — a dialogue that became a staple for mass hero introductions in Tamil cinema for the next decade.
