• Gouthami was already a star when she signed 'Enga Ooru Kavalkaran' (1988). S. S. Chandran was a character actor. The director paired them because he wanted a fresh romantic angle — Chandran's everyman energy against Gouthami's glamour. It worked so well they made nine more films in five years.
• In 'Santhana Kaatru' (1990), Chandran deliberately slowed his comic timing to match Gouthami's more measured delivery. He told the director: 'She makes the scene real. I have to meet her there, not race ahead.' That film's emotional scenes are the only ones that still get shared on fan pages.
• Their 1989 film 'Dharmam Vellum' directly inspired the 1992 hit 'Naane Varuven' — the same producer saw how audiences reacted to their sibling-like bickering and greenlit a full rewrite to give them more screen time together. That second film became a sleeper hit in B-centres.
