• Srividya was already a star when she agreed to do Mythili Ennai Kaathali (1986). S. S. Chandran was a character actor, not a lead. The director paired them specifically because he wanted a mature, experienced actress to anchor the film around Chandran's comic timing — it was a gamble that worked.
• In Mappillai (1989), Chandran played the hero's sidekick while Srividya played the hero's mother. They never shared a single romantic scene across all 7 films. Their chemistry was built on bickering and banter — she played the stern matriarch, he played the nervous fool. That push-pull became their signature.
• On the sets of Poruthathu Pothum (1989), Chandran would deliberately flub his lines to make Srividya laugh. She once told a crew member that he was the only co-star who could break her composure mid-scene. They'd reset and shoot again, but the outtakes were legendary among the unit.
