• Vanisri was already a star when she signed Ennadhan Mudivu (1965). But K. S. Gopalakrishnan was a debutant director. She took a risk on him. That film launched his directorial career.
• In Kulama Gunama (1971), Gopalakrishnan wrote a long, single-take argument scene for Vanisri. She delivered it without a single cut. He later said she made his writing look better than it was.
• Gopalakrishnan and Vanisri were close friends off-screen. He often called her 'sister' on set. She was the only actress he trusted to handle mythological roles without overacting.
