Partnership facts

• Brahmanandam and L. B. Sriram first shared screen space in Siva Rama Raju (2002), but they barely had a scene together. The director, Shankar, just wanted two reliable comedians for separate tracks. They didn't actually exchange dialogue until Thotti Gang later that same year.
• In Thotti Gang (2002), Brahmanandam played the fast-talking sidekick while L. B. Sriram played the slow, deadpan foil. Sriram would deliberately pause mid-sentence, and Brahmanandam would fill the silence with a stammer or a stumble. That rhythm — one rushing, one dragging — became their signature.
• L. B. Sriram has said in interviews that Brahmanandam personally recommended him for a role in a later film that never got made. Sriram still calls him 'anna' (elder brother) on set, even though they are the same age.
• L. B. Sriram once told a Telugu magazine: 'Brahmanandam garu can make you laugh with just a blink. I had to learn to blink slower so I wouldn't get in his way.'
• Their pairing in Thotti Gang (2002) inspired a minor trend in Telugu comedy — the 'mismatched duo' where one actor talks a mile a minute and the other barely moves his lips. You can see echoes of it in later films like Jai Chiranjeeva (2005) and Andarivaadu (2005).
• After a 22-year gap, they reunited for Utsavam (2024). The director, Sudheer Varma, specifically wrote a scene where the two characters argue over a stolen idli — a callback to their old rhythm. Brahmanandam suggested the prop, Sriram suggested the pause.
