The original villain dropped out, and producer-director Shibu Mitra brought in Gulshan Grover to face off against Dharmendra. Grover was so nervous acting opposite the 'He-Man' that he flubbed his first dialogue — Dharmendra calmly said, 'Beta, aankhein mila ke bol.'
• Dharmendra deliberately slowed down his action timing in Sher Dil (1990) to match Gulshan Grover's theatrical style. Grover played a flamboyant villain who needed pauses for his one-liners to land. Dharam told the fight choreographer, 'Uske dialogue ke baad rukna — tab main girega.' That rhythm made the climax the most replayed scene of the film.
• The success of Sher Dil (1990) directly led to the casting of Grover as the main antagonist in Dharmendra's next home production, Dushman Devta (1991).
