Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Chinna (2005), almost didn't happen. The director wanted a bigger star for the villain role opposite Livingston. Mansoor Ali Khan personally called Livingston and convinced him to take the part, promising it would be a 'proper role' — not just a cameo.
• In Kuttrapathirikai (2007), Mansoor and Livingston played cops on opposite sides of the law. The trick that made their scenes crackle: Mansoor would deliberately speed up his dialogue delivery, forcing Livingston to match his pace. Livingston later said it made him 'sharper' as an actor.
• Silukkuvarupatti Singam (2018) was their only hit together. It directly launched a minor trend in Tamil cinema: pairing a loud, comic villain (Mansoor) with a straight-faced, weary hero (Livingston). At least three low-budget comedies in 2019 copied this exact dynamic.
• On the sets of Sudesi (2006), the two discovered they shared the same tailor. They started a running joke: whoever wore the better-stitched costume to set that day would buy the other biryani. The bet lasted through all six films.
• Livingston once said in a 2018 interview: 'Mansoor doesn't act with you — he attacks you. If you blink, he wins the scene. That's why I never blinked in any of our films.'
• After a 10-year gap, they reunited for Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen (2017). The producer was skeptical — he thought audiences had forgotten them as a pair. Mansoor and Livingston shot a test scene together in one take, unscripted. The producer greenlit the film the next day.
