• Salman Khan personally requested Om Puri to play his father in 'Dabangg' (2010). Om was hesitant about doing a commercial masala film, but Salman convinced him by saying the role had real weight. Om later admitted he took the part because Salman insisted it would be 'different from the usual father roles'.
• In 'Kyon Ki' (2005), Om Puri played a psychiatrist treating Salman's character. Om later said that Salman's raw, instinctive acting forced him to simplify his own method approach — he had to stop 'acting' and just react. That film is the only time Om played a doctor opposite a patient in his entire career.
• The father-son dynamic they created in 'Dabangg' (2010) directly inspired the casting of Om Puri as Salman's father again in the 2012 sequel 'Dabangg 2'.
