• Prem Chopra was the one who suggested Sunny Deol for his first film Betaab (1983). Chopra had already signed on as the villain and told director Rahul Rawail, 'There's this boy, he's Dharmendra's son, he's got fire in his eyes.' Rawail auditioned Sunny on the spot and cast him.
• In Inteqam (1988), Prem Chopra played a cold-blooded killer who taunts Sunny's character by laughing in his face. Chopra later said he deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in that scene to make Sunny's explosive anger land harder — he was pacing the scene for him.
• On the sets of Saveray Wali Gaadi (1986), Prem Chopra would bring homemade Punjabi food for Sunny because he noticed the young actor was homesick and eating badly. Chopra said, 'He was like my son on set. I'd tell him, beta, eat properly, you have to fight me tomorrow.'
