• Their first film together, Ambigai Neril Vanthaal (1984), almost didn't happen. Director S. A. Chandrasekhar had to convince a reluctant Senthil to sign on opposite Radha — Senthil was unsure about pairing with a newcomer who had just debuted in a supporting role.
• In Nalla Thambi (1985), Senthil's deadpan comic timing and Radha's expressive reactions created a rhythm that became their trademark. He'd set up a joke with a straight face; she'd complete it with a look or a line. Audiences started expecting that back-and-forth.
• Their 1986 hit Amman Kovil Kizhakale directly launched the career of composer Ilaiyaraaja's younger brother, Gangai Amaran, as a full-fledged music director. The film's songs became a template for rural Tamil romances in the late '80s.
• During the shoot of Uzhavan Magan (1987), Senthil and Radha developed a habit of rehearsing their scenes in the car on the way to the set. They'd rewrite dialogues together, often making them more colloquial than the script. The director let them keep it.
• Radha once said in a 1990 interview: 'Senthil never tried to be the hero in front of me. He let me take the lead in emotional scenes, and he took the lead in comedy. That's why we never clashed.'
• In Nyaya Tharasu (1989), their last film together, Senthil deliberately underplayed his role to give Radha more screen time in the climax. He told the director he'd rather be a prop in her big scene than steal focus. That scene is still remembered by fans.
