Partnership facts

• They first met on the set of Aarohanam (2012), but almost didn't share a single scene. Director Rajiv Menon had to rewrite the climax to bring their characters together after seeing their test footage — he realized they had a rhythm no one else in the cast had.
• In Vatthikuchi (2013), Jayaprakash kept pushing Sampath Raj to drop his theatre-trained projection and speak like a real thug. Sampath later said JP would stop takes mid-dialogue and whisper, 'Idhu stage illa da — konjam kammi pannu.' That film became Sampath's first raw, grounded performance.
• Their face-off scene in Run Raja Run (2014) — where they argue over a phone call without either raising their voice — became a reference point for Tamil screenwriters. At least three subsequent thriller scripts (including an uncredited lift in a 2016 web series) directly copied that scene's pacing.
• During the shoot of Ethiri En 3 (2015), the two would drive together to location every morning — even though they lived 20 km apart. Sampath later admitted they used that car time to rehearse their arguments so intensely that the driver once pulled over thinking they were actually fighting.
