• Their first film together, Iddaru Iddare (1990), was a remake of a Malayalam hit. Ramya Krishnan was just 19 and already a star in Tamil, but Kota Srinivasa Rao was the one who insisted she was perfect for the Telugu version — he told the director she had the 'fire' to match his villainy.
• In Mugguru Monagallu (1994), Kota played the menacing uncle while Ramya played the damsel. But on set, Kota would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Ramya laugh — he said it loosened her up for the actual emotional scenes.
