• They first met on the sets of Ethiroli (1970). Lakshmi was a rising star, Raghavan a seasoned character actor. The director paired them because he wanted a fresh, intense romantic tension — and got it.
• In Uyir (1971), Raghavan deliberately slowed down his delivery to match Lakshmi's natural rhythm. She later said he 'taught me how to pause on screen' — that film became a cult hit for its silences.
• During the shoot of Maanavan (1970), Raghavan would bring Lakshmi filter coffee every morning. She called him 'anna' (elder brother) on set, and they stayed in touch until his death in 2003.
