• Raghuvaran was initially hesitant to star opposite Madhuri in 'Manithan' (1987) because she was a newcomer. Director S. A. Chandrasekhar convinced him by showing him her test footage. That film became their first hit together.
• In 'Irandil Ondru' (1988), Raghuvaran deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Madhuri's natural rhythm. She later said this made her feel like an equal on set, not a junior artist.
• During the shoot of 'Thaimel Aanai' (1988), Raghuvaran would bring Madhuri homemade biryani every Friday. She later revealed this was his way of making her feel less homesick — she was from Kerala and missed her mother's cooking.
• The success of 'Michael Raj' (1987) directly led to a wave of Tamil films pairing a brooding older hero with a younger, spirited heroine. At least three copycat films were announced within a year.
• Madhuri once told a magazine: 'Raghuvaran never treated me like a child actress. He'd say, "You're my co-star, not my daughter." That respect made me give my best in every scene with him.'
• In 'Thyagu' (1990), their last film together, Raghuvaran improvised a scene where he silently wipes Madhuri's tears with his thumb. The director kept the take because Madhuri's genuine surprise at the gesture is visible on camera.
