• Manorama personally recommended Vadivelu for Singaravelan (1992) after seeing him struggle in small roles. She told the director he had 'something special' — that film became their first together and put Vadivelu on the map.
• On set, Manorama would deliberately flub her lines to make Vadivelu improvise. He'd then riff for minutes, and she'd react live — that unscripted back-and-forth became the signature of their comedy scenes.
• Vadivelu called Manorama 'Amma' off-screen. She treated him like a son — even packed his lunch when he forgot. He later said she was the only co-star who scolded him like family.
