• Latha was just 16 when she first acted opposite MGR in 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban' (1973). He was 56. The age gap was so huge that the director had to carefully frame shots to avoid making it obvious.
• MGR was famously controlling on set, but Latha was the only co-star he let improvise her lines. In 'Netru Indru Naalai' (1974), she ad-libbed a comedic retort that made him break character — something he almost never did.
• Latha was the only actress MGR personally invited to his home for dinner. She later said he treated her like a daughter, not a co-star. They stayed in touch even after he became Chief Minister.
• Their 1975 film 'Ninaithadhai Mudippavan' was the first Tamil movie to feature a female police officer as a lead character — directly because Latha pushed MGR to let her play a cop. That role inspired a wave of women-in-uniform films in the 80s.
• Latha once said in an interview: 'MGR sir never raised his voice at me. Not once in 13 films. He'd just say, "Latha, try it again, but this time with more anger." And I'd do it.'
• In 'Madhuraiyai Meetta Sundharapandiyan' (1978), MGR was recovering from a kidney transplant and could barely stand for long shots. Latha would subtly support his weight during their dance sequences — the camera never showed it.
