• Their first film together, Amman Kovil Kizhakale (1986), was a low-budget village drama. Neither was a big star yet. The director paired them because both could switch between comedy and sentiment in the same scene — a rare combo then.
• In Vetri Karangal (1991), their only film to score above 7/10, Radha Ravi played the calm, righteous hero while Vinu Chakravarthy was the hot-headed antagonist. The tension worked because Vinu deliberately overacted in every take, forcing Radha Ravi to underplay — and that contrast made the courtroom climax crackle.
• On the sets of Ullathil Nalla Ullam (1988), the two would argue for hours about which character should get the better dialogue. The director finally locked them in a room and said, 'Come out only when you've swapped one line each.' They came out laughing and never fought on set again.
• Their 1992 film Naalaiya Theerpu was the first Tamil movie to feature a flashback sequence told entirely through a single character's voiceover — a technique later copied by at least three major directors in the 2000s. • Radha Ravi once said in a 2005 interview: 'Vinu and I never rehearsed. We'd just look at each other before the shot and decide who would lead the scene. That trust came from 10 films — you can't fake it.'
• In Gajendra (2004), their last film together, both were playing fathers — but they swapped real-life mannerisms on screen. Radha Ravi started using Vinu's signature hand gesture (a slow finger-point), and Vinu adopted Radha Ravi's habit of pausing mid-sentence. Neither told the other they were doing it.
