• They share the exact same name — S.V. Krishna Reddy — but one is the director and the other is the actor. The director cast the actor in Mayalodu (1993) after seeing him in a stage play, and the confusion over their identical names became a running joke on set.
• The actor S.V. Krishna Reddy was the director's secret weapon for comedy. In Yamaleela (1994), the director let the actor improvise most of his lines, turning a small supporting role into the film's most quoted performance.
• Their film Top Hero (1994) launched the career of actress Soundarya in Telugu. She was a newcomer then, and the director cast her opposite his namesake actor — the film became her breakout hit.
• The director and the actor were childhood friends from the same village in Guntur district. They made a pact in 1985: if one became a filmmaker, the other would act in his movies. They kept that promise for over a decade.
