• Senthil and Murali first shared screen space in 'Mannukkul Vairam' (1986) because the director needed a comedy duo that could match the film's rustic energy. Neither was a star yet — they were both struggling actors who got the roles after the original choices backed out.
• In 'Ninaivu Chinnam' (1989), Senthil did most of the physical comedy — falls, chases, slapstick — while Murali delivered the punchlines. Murali would often pause mid-dialogue to let Senthil's reactions land first. That timing made their scenes feel like a real conversation, not a scripted bit.
• During the shoot of 'Paalam' (1990), Senthil and Murali shared a room in a small lodge near the set. Every night, they would rehearse the next day's comedy scene together, often rewriting the lines on hotel paper. Murali later said those late-night sessions were why their comic timing felt so natural.
• The success of 'Namma Ooru Poovatha' (1990) directly led to a wave of rural comedy-duo films in Tamil cinema. Producers started specifically casting two comedians with contrasting body types — one short and wiry, one tall and lanky — copying the Senthil-Murali template for the next five years.
• Murali once told a magazine: 'Senthil and I never competed. He knew I would set up the joke, and I knew he would land it. That trust took us through eight films.' He said this in a 1998 interview after 'En Aasai Rasave' released.
• After 'Roja Malare' (1997) bombed badly, Senthil and Murali stopped getting offers as a pair. They never had a falling out — they just drifted apart. Murali later switched to character roles, while Senthil continued in comedy. They never worked together again after 1998.
