• Their first film together, Kanoon Meri Mutthi Mein (1984), was a courtroom drama where Raj Babbar played a lawyer and Kader Khan played the villain. The director, S. A. Chandrasekhar, paired them specifically because he wanted a raw, confrontational energy between the hero and the antagonist — and both actors agreed to cut their fees by 30% to keep the budget tight.
• In Insaaf Ki Awaaz (1986), Kader Khan improvised a 4-minute monologue where his character breaks down in court. Raj Babbar, playing the prosecutor, had to react in real time without a script. Babbar later said Khan would whisper the next emotional beat to him between takes — they built the scene together on the spot.
• During the shoot of Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani (1988), Kader Khan would drive Raj Babbar home every night after pack-up. They lived 20 minutes apart in Mumbai and used that time to rehearse the next day's dialogue. Babbar once joked that Khan's car had more script pages than floor mats.
• Badi Bahen (1993) was the only film where they played brothers — and it directly inspired a lesser-known 1997 TV series on Doordarshan called 'Bhai-Bhai', which reused the same emotional conflict between a righteous elder sibling and a misguided younger one. • Raj Babbar once said in a 1996 interview: 'Kader sahab could make me cry with just his voice. In Yaraana, I didn't act — I just listened to him and my tears came on cue.'
• After Yaraana (1995), they never worked together again. Not because of a fight — Kader Khan simply stopped taking offers from small-budget producers, and Raj Babbar moved into politics. But Babbar attended Khan's funeral in 2019 and was seen sitting alone with his head bowed for 20 minutes before the prayers began.
