Partnership facts

• Prashanth and Charlie first met on the sets of Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990). Charlie was a newcomer assistant director. Prashanth was the lead. They bonded over shared lunches and became friends before they ever acted together.
• In Hello (1999), Charlie played Prashanth's sidekick. But Charlie kept improvising lines on set. Prashanth would then riff off those lines. The director let them keep rolling. That film's comedy scenes are almost entirely unscripted back-and-forth between the two.
• Piriyadha Varam Vendum (2001) — their only film that scored above 7 — directly inspired a wave of friendship-drama films in early 2000s Tamil cinema. Several younger directors later admitted they wrote buddy characters after watching Prashanth and Charlie in that film.
• After Thamizh (2002), they stopped working together. No fight. No public reason. Charlie just moved into character roles with other actors. Prashanth shifted to solo leads. They never explained the split. They also never reunited on screen again.
• Charlie once said in an interview: 'Prashanth and I never needed a script to talk. We just looked at each other and knew what the other would say next. That's why our scenes felt real.'
