Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Kshemanga Velli Labanga Randi (2000), was a comedy where Brahmanandam played a ghost. Kovai Sarala later said she was nervous acting opposite him because he was already a legend, but he broke the ice by deliberately flubbing his lines to make her laugh.
• In Sandade Sandadi (2002), Brahmanandam and Kovai Sarala developed a rhythm where he would set up a punchline with a straight face, and she would deliver the timing-based reaction. That film’s comedy track became a template for several later pairings.
• Their 2016 double release — Nayaki in Telugu and Nayagi in Tamil — was a rare instance where the same comedy duo headlined a horror film in two languages simultaneously. The Tamil version directly introduced Kovai Sarala to a new audience, and Brahmanandam’s comic timing was re-dubbed for local flavour.
• On the sets of Maa Alludu Very Good (2003), Kovai Sarala would bring homemade Kerala-style snacks for Brahmanandam between shots. He later admitted in an interview that her bonda and chutney became his on-set ritual for every film they did together after that.
• Brahmanandam once said about Kovai Sarala: 'She is the only actress who can match my speed without a rehearsal. I don't have to slow down for her.' He said this during a 2013 promotional event for Masala.
