• Vadivelu was a struggling mimicry artist when Vinu Chakravarthy spotted him at a stage show. Vinu insisted the director of Aatha Un Koyilile (1991) cast him as the comedian — that film became Vadivelu's first proper break in Tamil cinema.
• In Maharasan (1993), Vinu Chakravarthy played the stern father while Vadivelu played the comic sidekick. Vinu would deliberately pause his dialogue delivery to let Vadivelu's physical comedy land — a rhythm they perfected over four films.
