• Soundarya was the one who pushed for Gundu Hanumantha Rao to be cast in 'Rajendrudu Gajendrudu' (1993). She had seen his comic timing in a stage play and told the director, 'He’s the only one who can make this role funny without being vulgar.' That film became their first together.
• On the sets of 'Rikshavodu' (1995), Soundarya would deliberately flub her lines in the first take just to make Hanumantha Rao laugh. She said it loosened him up. He, in turn, would add a new improvised punchline every time she messed up — turning their scenes into a live comedy duel.
