• Soundarya was already a star when she signed Mayalodu (1993), but S. V. Krishna Reddy was a debutant director. She took a risk on him because she liked his script — and that film became his first hit.
• In Top Hero (1994), Krishna Reddy wrote a role that let Soundarya play both a bubbly village girl and a sophisticated city woman. He later said he tailored the double-act specifically to show off her range — something no other director had done for her before.
• Their 1999 film Premaku Velayara introduced a fresh comic sidekick pair — Ali and Brahmanandam — whose banter became so popular that Krishna Reddy reused the same formula in his next film Sardukupodam Randi (2000). That film then inspired a wave of buddy-comedy subplots in Telugu cinema.
• After Premaku Swagatam (2002) flopped, Soundarya and Krishna Reddy never worked together again. But she remained close to his family — she was one of the first people he called when his son was born in 2003.
• Krishna Reddy once said in an interview: 'Soundarya was the only actress who could make my silly lines sound intelligent. She'd read a scene, laugh, and then say, 'Let me fix this dialogue so it lands better.' She was my secret co-writer.'
