• Their first film together, Kavithai Paada Neramillai (1987), was a romantic drama where Nassar played the lead and Raghuvaran played the antagonist. Director Mani Ratnam reportedly suggested Raghuvaran for the role after seeing his work in Telugu, and Nassar — already a close friend — vouched for him on set.
• In Amarkalam (1999), Nassar played a ruthless don and Raghuvaran played his loyal henchman. The tension in their scenes came from a real-life dynamic: Raghuvaran, known for his method intensity, would stay in character even between takes, and Nassar — a trained theatre actor — would deliberately provoke him to keep that edge alive.
• Their 1995 film Kolangal was one of the first Tamil movies to explore caste-based violence in a rural setting, and its raw performances — especially the face-off between Nassar's upper-crust patriarch and Raghuvaran's oppressed labourer — directly influenced later films like Thevar Magan and Virumaandi.
