• Nassar and Sumithra first worked together in 'Airport' (1993) because the director, Joshiy, specifically wanted a real-life couple to play the leads — he felt their offscreen comfort would sell the onscreen tension. They were already married for over a decade by then.
• In 'Kallazhagar' (1999), Nassar played a possessive husband and Sumithra played his long-suffering wife. The director later said that Sumithra's real-life patience with Nassar's intense method acting on set made her performance feel terrifyingly real — she wasn't acting the silence, she was genuinely exhausted by his constant character immersion.
