• Kamal Haasan was just 19 when he co-wrote and directed his first film, but it was Srikanth who pushed him to take the plunge. Srikanth, already a star, agreed to act in 'Paruva Kaalam' (1974) only if Kamal directed it — giving the young actor his first shot behind the camera.
• In 'Sakka Podu Podu Raja' (1978), Srikanth deliberately slowed down his comic timing to match Kamal's rapid-fire delivery. Kamal later said Srikanth would pause mid-dialogue just to let him land a punchline — a selfless move that made their double-act click.
• Their 1975 film 'Then Sindhudhe Vaanam' was the first Tamil movie to feature a live orchestra on set — a risky experiment that Kamal and Srikanth jointly convinced the producer to fund. It bombed at the box office but inspired later composers to try live recordings.
