• They first met on the set of Thiruvilaiyaadal Aarambam (2006). Ilavarasu was already a known face, but Saranya was nervous. He broke the ice by cracking a joke about the director's wig. She laughed so hard they had to retake the scene.
• In Muthukku Muthaaga (2011), Ilavarasu deliberately flubbed his lines in one take to make Saranya laugh. The director kept that take because her genuine, surprised laugh became the scene's highlight. That's how they worked: he set the trap, she walked into it.
