• Danny Denzongpa was the one who pushed for Sunny Deol to be cast in Yateem (1988). The director, J. P. Dutta, had initially considered someone else, but Danny insisted Sunny had the right raw intensity for the role.
• In Yodha (1991), Danny played the calm, calculating villain while Sunny was the explosive hero. Danny deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to make Sunny's outbursts hit harder — he set the rhythm so Sunny could break it.
• For Ghatak (1996), Danny taught Sunny how to use a khukuri knife properly. Sunny had never handled one before, and Danny — who grew up with the weapon in Sikkim — showed him the exact grip and swing for the climax fight.
