Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Mawaali (1983), was a David Dhawan directorial. Prem Chopra was already a veteran villain, but Kader Khan was still finding his footing as a character actor. Dhawan paired them specifically to create a 'double villain' threat — two bad guys who could trade dialogue without one overshadowing the other.
• In Raja Babu (1994), their only comedy together, Kader Khan played the hero's uncle while Prem Chopra played the main villain. The trick was that Chopra stayed stone-faced and menacing, letting Khan do all the comic timing. Chopra later said Khan would whisper the next punchline to him right before the take, so his straight-man reaction was genuinely fresh.
• Despite playing enemies on screen, Prem Chopra and Kader Khan were close friends off-screen. Chopra once revealed that Khan would write extra lines for him in films where Khan was also the dialogue writer — even when the script didn't call for it. Khan did this for free, just to give his friend more screen time.
• Prem Chopra said about Kader Khan: 'He was the only co-star who could make me laugh during a serious scene. I would break character, and the director would yell 'cut' — but Kader sahab would just smile and say, 'Prem, you are supposed to be angry, not happy.'
• Their 1996 film Sapoot was the first time both actors played father roles in the same movie — Chopra as the hero's father, Khan as the villain's father. This double-father dynamic became a template for several family-action films in the late 90s, including the hit film 'Judaai' (1997) which used a similar structure.
• In Inteqam (1988), they played brothers — one good, one evil. This was rare because both were usually cast as villains. The director, S. A. Kader, said he cast them specifically because their real-life friendship made the brotherly betrayal scene more believable. Chopra's character kills Khan's character in that film — and Chopra reportedly couldn't look Khan in the eye for the rest of the day after the shot.
