Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Woh Jo Hasina (1983), was a low-budget quickie. Kader Khan was already a top writer-actor by then, but Mithun was still shaking off his 'Disco Dancer' image. Khan agreed to do the film only because Mithun personally came to his house and said, 'Sir, I need a solid villain to make me look good.'
• In Pyar Ka Mandir (1988), Kader Khan played Mithun's strict father. The film's emotional core — a father-son confrontation scene — was entirely improvised. Khan later said Mithun would deliberately underplay his lines to force Khan to raise his voice, creating real tension on set.
• Their 1993 film Meharbaan was the first Hindi movie where Mithun played a double role — one a kind-hearted villager, the other a ruthless city gangster. Kader Khan wrote the screenplay and insisted on the double role gimmick. This directly inspired Mithun's later double-role hits like Jallad (1995).
• On the sets of Sharara (1984), Kader Khan discovered that Mithun couldn't read Hindi scripts fluently. So Khan would sit with him every evening, read the next day's lines aloud, and explain the meaning. Mithun called him 'my walking dictionary' for the rest of his career.
• Kader Khan once told a trade magazine: 'Mithun is the only actor who would ask me to make his character weaker in the script. He said, "Sir, if I look too strong, the audience won't feel for me." That's rare in this industry.'
