Partnership facts

• Prem Chopra was the one who pushed for Mithun to be cast in 'Charnon Ki Saugandh' (1988). The producers wanted a bigger name, but Prem insisted Mithun had the right energy for the role.
• In 'Sagar Sangam' (1988), Prem played the villain and Mithun the hero. Prem deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scenes so Mithun's rapid-fire punches would land harder on screen.
• On the sets of 'Ghar Jamai' (1992), Prem Chopra would bring homemade sweets for Mithun every morning. Mithun later said it was the only reason he showed up on time for the 6 AM call sheets.
• Mithun once told a trade magazine: 'Prem ji is the only villain who made me laugh between takes. We'd crack jokes, then he'd turn around and slap me on screen. I never knew which Prem was real.'
• Their pairing in 'Ahankaar' (1995) was so popular in small-town Bihar that local video parlours started double-billing it with 'Disco Dancer' — creating a weird 'hero-villain reunion' trend that lasted two years.
• In 'Jodidar' (1997), Prem Chopra improvised a scene where he offers Mithun a drink. Mithun refused the prop and instead poured real water on Prem's shoes. The director kept it — it became the film's most replayed moment.
