• Their first film together, Chaitanya (1990), was a remake of a Malayalam hit. Nagarjuna specifically asked director V. B. Rajendra Prasad to cast Kota Srinivasa Rao as the villain after seeing his work in Kireedom. Kota was initially hesitant because he thought his role was too small.
• In Iddaru Iddare (1990), Kota played a ruthless landlord who terrorizes Nagarjuna's character. The climax fight was shot in one continuous take because Kota insisted on real physical contact — he told Nagarjuna, 'Hit me for real, or the audience won't believe it.' Nagarjuna obliged, and Kota's reaction sold the scene.
• Kota Srinivasa Rao and Nagarjuna shared a running joke on sets: every time they finished a scene together, Kota would ask for a cup of tea, and Nagarjuna would personally bring it to him. This started on Gharana Bullodu (1995) and continued through Ragada (2010).
• The success of their pairing in Aavida Maa Aavide (1998) — where Kota played a comedic villain opposite Nagarjuna — directly led to the trend of casting veteran character actors as the main antagonist in family entertainers. Before this, most Telugu family films used younger actors for villains.
• Nagarjuna once said in a 2010 interview: 'Kota garu is the only actor who can make me forget my lines. I get so lost watching him perform that the director has to yell 'cut' to bring me back.' He said this while promoting Ragada.
• In Eduruleni Manishi (2001), Kota played a police officer who tortures Nagarjuna's character. The interrogation scene was entirely improvised by Kota — he used a real cigarette stub and ash tray, and Nagarjuna's genuine flinch when Kota flicked ash near his face was unscripted. The director kept it in the final cut.
