• Salman Khan personally recommended Anupam Kher for the role of his father in 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' (1994). Kher was initially hesitant to play a father to a star he was only two years older than, but Salman insisted he was the only one who could pull off the warmth.
• In 'Dabangg' (2010), Anupam Kher’s character Mastang was written as a loud, over-the-top villain. But on set, Kher deliberately underplayed every scene opposite Salman’s Chulbul Pandey. He told Salman: 'You be the cartoon. I’ll be the straight man.' That contrast made their face-offs iconic.
